Don "Double D"

We currently own a 27' Sundancer. We love the boat. We have been thinking about a 1995 37' Sundancer. I would ask you to tell what your experience with is the boat. Handling, ride comfort, cruise speeds., cockpit comfort and cabin comfort. General reliability. Do you recommend the boat.

Thanks,
Vince

Vince.......Its a GREAT boat....nice dry big boat ride.....cruise speed is ** 24 MPH at 3200RPM....cockpit and cabin are very comfortable with the big 13' beam. We love the cabin layout and seperate shower. We came out of a 1995 330DA....a big difference. Now we are thinking....of upgrading to a bridge boat.

I owned a 93 which is the same layout and hull but with the old style windows. The pluses are styling, layout, very strong airconditioning, great space in cockpit for entertaining at the dock. The galley and head are nice as well. The negatives are lack of storage, low speed handling (small props and rudders), sea keeping ( pounds in small seas, difficult to run an inlet in a following sea), leaks alot which requires ongoing maintenance as the leaks can not be stopped as the hul/deck joint is weak. The doors and cabinents open when cruising so your stuff ends up on the floor and the TV comes out of the storage area when underway. The sofa is not comfortable for a 6 footer and the a/c sump spills rusty water on the white carpet when you are under way. This is nice river boat but not a Great Lakes cruiser. You need to add dripless shafts if it does not have them as the limber holes are not glassed. Check the deck area around the hatches for rot. Having said all of this, we put lots of hours on our 37 and owned it for about 11 years.

I bought a 1995 370DA in June 2006 and like mentioned above it is a great boat. Previous boat was a 1991 310 DA. The 370 DA is a very comfortable/roomy boat(cabin and cockpit), solid ride, lot of storage spaces, nice cruising speed, but likes gas (we have the 7,4/gas, it is not a speed demon). In comparison to the 310 it has a better handling around decks. We changed some of the electronics and the canvas.

In summary it is was a very good move to do from our 310 DA (which is also a very good boat).

eclips.....we run the same boats. I also had a 1990 310DA. That too was a decent boat...nice solid ride.....but no comparison to the 370DA.

Thank you for your response. It looks like the 37 is a good boat.
They have reasonable speed and good handling. Once we get on the boat we are where we want to be and not in a hurry. We are river and ICW travelers very little large lake or bay cruising. When it is rough we do not go or if caught out in rough seas we slow down. Fuel availability where we cruise can be a problem so fuel burn is a factor. We need .8 to 1 or better at cruise. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Vince

Some Test Results on a 370 DA, 7.4 gas. You would get more around 0,70-0,75, but around 190 range
