38 Point Launch Ramp Checklist

C/P from another site. I wish I was as talented!

Here is my process;

1. Back up onto the ramp to the waters edge.
2. Get out of the truck-be sure the radio is loud enough so you can hear your favorite tune
3. Climb aboard the boat.
4. Retrieve plug and wrench from one of the cup holders
5. Climb out of the boat.
6. Install plug
7. Climb back into the boat
8. Turn Batt switch on
9. Turn on blower
10. Yell at the wife and tell her to bring the towels
11. Have her bring the food and place that into the boat
12. Yell at the wife and tell her to bring the cooler
13. The coolers to heavy for her
14. Get out of the boat
15. Get the cooler and put on swim platform
16. Climb in boat
17. Grab the cooler and place in boat
18. Set up Bimini top
19. Flip off the people lined up giving me the stink eye waiting to launch (I was there 1st!!)
20. Climb out of the boat
21. Take off the back straps
22. Climb in truck
23. Back boat into water
24. Hand wife the bow line and release boat from trailer
25. Yell at the wife so she understands the boat needs to be tied to the dock
26. Go onto dock and tie boat off close to the launch ramp because she can't tie a knot
27. Move and park truck
28. Stop at the Porta-Pottie on the way back to the boat
29. Go to boat
30. Tell wife she better go to the bathroom before we go
31. Give her the keys to the truck because she forgot her makeup bag
32. Try to start the boat (1st time this season!!! Weehoo)
33. Won't start #%#%&rb2rb2@gr5tgr5t!
34. Wife comes back
35. Yell at her because the boat won't start
36. Realize the emergency shutoff was flipped from the lanyard
37. Start the boat
38. On my merry way
 
You left out the part about backing the boat into the water and realizing you forgot to put the plug in. Pull the boat back out of the water, wait for the water to drain from the bilge, put in the plug and then back the boat into the water again.

You also need to test the trailer straps by trying to back the boat off while they're still secured. That can be followed by either pulling the trailer forward or the ever popular swimming at the ramp to release them.
 
After much consideration, my checklist:
1. Boatyard performs all launch actions.

This helps my pocketbook and marriage.

2. Park truck or give the keys to someone to go park the truck.
3. Enjoy day.

Nah, I just like to make my recreational boating time as simple and relaxed as humanly possible. Boating is my profession, so when I'm doing it on my days off, I'm sure as heck not going to worry about anything. Boat sinks, it sinks. Burns down, it burns down. Breaks down, it breaks down. It's well insured. Someone will come out, pick me up and give me a ride in. (I personally trained the guys that would do it, so I have faith in them.)
 
How about, unhook boat from trailer,
Back down ramp
Boat slides off of trailer onto ramp
 
I realize that the OP is tongue-in-cheek, but the reality is, before tou block the ramp, load the boat, and get the boat ready to operate. Then loosen the straps, get in line for the ramp, and, while someone holds the line, launch the boat. Line holder moves boat to boarding area, driver parks the truck/trailer. then load personnel, retrieve all lines hanging in water, and go boating...

But, yes, OP is what is usually seen at the ramp.
 
You obviously don't launch in the Delaware Bay. I don't see where you apply bug spray three times!
 
Where I launch the ramp is about 10 lanes wide so there is no issue with blocking the ramp.

Okay, while I have never once forgotten the plug, I will admit that I've had to swim to my boat.

I never pull the plug on my boat.Never a need too.
