Does anyone have any experience with or thoughts on this model? This has made my short list and I wanted to get some thoughts on the boat.

I boat primarily in Lake Erie, doing short runs of 15 miles or less. About 1/2 the season, this would truly be a "floating condo."

Thank you!

Sounds like you're in Sandusky Bay. We sold one of those brand new (it later turned into the 42 Mariner with a completely reworked interior). It's a fairly good running boat but being as tall as it is, it has alot of windage. If you end up buying it, I would investigate getting a thruster if it doesn't already have one. It has good livability, and lots of room for entertaining. Anything more specific, just ask me :-)

Kenny

Thanks for the feedback! The boat does have a thruster, so that should help with docking.

This boat is a gas model. Given my usage, I am fine with lack of efficiency; however, is it really THAT hard to dock this boat with its height? Coming from an express cruiser, this is one concern I have.

How about build quality? It seemed pretty nice to me, but I only spent less than hour checking her out.

By the way, we are out of CIC. We take quite a few trips to Cedar Point, though!

As long as the thruster is appropriately-sized, you'll be able to put her anywhere you want with ease.

Bryan...build quality is good, they really have no issues with strength or integrity. In CIC, you really don't have too much of a wind problem, so I don't think it will be much of an issue. However, going from an express to a tall sedan, the height will be noticed, but you'll get used to it and learn to use it to your advantage. I take it that this is the boat Lakeside has?

Yes, this is the boat that Lakeside currently has. Trying to work out a deal, but we are quite a ways apart on price right now (I'm trying to trade my boat in as well). I also need to get the boat in the water and sea trial it before making any decision. I've been on some bridge boats where the ride was awful, so I need to make sure we are comfortable before making the move.

I've also got my eye on a couple other boats, but I really like the amount of living & entertaining space that the Carver offers.

I'm glad to hear that the bow thruster will really help with docking. I'm a "decent" captain, but anything to make docking less stressful is welcome!

From my experiences, the 410 SS/42 Mariner (same hull) are nice riding and stable boats...I don't think you'll be disappointed. No offense to you, but I've been on several Formula PCs, and I think you'll be happy with the ride compared to what you now have

Hey Ram,

We would still consider a 34' Formula PC... (I think) the one that we did the sea trial with seemed ok to me... ?
Bryan, what year is your Formula? Colors? Pics? Just curious, as we are not really in the market anymore at this time.
I think we decided to stick with our Regal for another year or so.. depending on where fuel costs go.

DogDaze,

My Formula is a 2004 34 PC. It has the sapphire blue Imron hull (nice!) and is very well-equipped. About the only two options not on the boat are radar and a bow thruster. If you are interested in learning more, let me know!

Thanks!

Joe...nothing against the 34 PC at all. It's a nice boat, but the 410SS is a smoother, softer ride. Albeit, not as fast, but that's not a bad thing

Okay... now I am dying to get out on a Carver 410 SS! Softer than my 34 PC?? Really? Trust me, I take no offense to these comments, but I have always thought that my Formula was the best riding boat I have ever been on... especially in rough water situations.

I'm glad to hear that the Carver will offer a nice ride. That is one of the things I was concerned about. Speed isn't an issue to me... my Formula has been up to 49 MPH---once. That was during the sea trial and the fastest I have gone since then is about 34 MPH, while spending most of my time crusing at about 26 MPH. With two young kids on board, going "super fast" isn't really an option!
