forth of july trip to block island for the first time, would love to follow someone to be on the safe side and to learn as i go i have a 27 ft crownline we will be leaving old saybrook thurs the 3rd and staying at pains until the sun 5th
 
You most likley will need a reservation to ensure you have a spot at BI on the 4th. Do you have one?
 
we are staying at pains they dont take reservations they will take anyone that weekend
 
Hate to be picky, but it's "Payne's" - and you will be rafted up there.
 
Yes its Paynes and you will be more than rafted, you will bit fit into the marina like a boating version of the game Tetris. this is not all bad, but just be ready for it. Be careful if you are showing up anytime past Thursday the 2nd as the marina will fill up to beyond capacity by Friday at noon. Sands and Cliff payne are very accomodating, but once all the space is gone, I have seen people turned away.

Its a fun place, the bar on the dock is entertaining (and a little loud), buts all fun.
