For my boat trailer, I use a connector cord that converts from a 7-pin round at the truck end, and it is a 5-pin flat at the trailer end. One of the 5 pins on the trailer is for the solenoid for the surge brake by-pass valve.
I am buying small utility trailer that has a 4-pin flat connector (no trailer brakes). Will I need to buy a 7-pin round to 4-pin flat connector, or can I use my existing 7-pin round to 5-pin flat connector on the utility trailer? I'm not sure if the pins will line up correctly, and have not bought the utility trailer yet, so can't go chasing wire connection routes right now. Are they all pretty standard, where a 5 pin from the truck will work on 4-pin at the trailer?
