Hello. We recently purchased a 1987 Sundancer and I bought a portable Honda generator last night.

Where do you store your portable generator?

Thanks for your help.

Had one on my Regal. Transported in the cockpit and stored and used on the platform when on the hook. Sold the boat before I could make a permanent mount. It is not uncommon to see them lashed to the upper platform underway.

BTW, No need to buy the extended run kit. You can "T" into a fuel feed and get more bang for the buck and never have to carry a gas can. It is an easy DIY.

The gennie came home after the weekend. Make sure you stress it weekly. Run Stabil in the fuel, drain it at the end of the season and allow the engine to die of fuel starvation otherwise the carb will gum up and cost about $100 to fix...DAMHIK

My old bayliner had enough room for me to store it in the engine compartment. I always ran with the blowers on while underway, just to be on the safe side. I would strap the genny to my swim platform whenever I was on the hook. Worked great.

Never place it on the bow while you are on the hook. That could turn into a carbon monoxide nightmare.

Do not store in the E/R. I would be willing to bet the fuel tank cap has a vent and will vent gas vapors in your eng room. That thing is not designed for that, but hey, do you feel lucky, well do you?
