Hi folks,
I'm trying to locate the fuel sending units located (presumably) on top of the saddle tanks. My 98 Carver 355 ACMY does not make it obvious. There are 2 access panels on the port side salon which when removed do not allow access to the top of the tank. It would be impossible to reach the top of either tank from the engine room. The starboard side salon has no access panels that I can see and when I removed the Kenwood radio, it did not provide access behind it. The units are way out of calibration and must be attended to. Anybody install a better fuel quantity monitoring system than the simple float sending units that come with the boat?

For those of you who have a ACMY probably from 35 to 40 the starboard tank sending unit access is located beneath the Kenwood stereo system. Remove the panel that holds the stereo equipment. There is enough length in the numerous wires to allow you to place it to the side. You will notice once removed an access panel that is part of the floor of the cabinet. Remove this panel, it has a silver knob that retracts. Once removed you will notice beneath the panel another gray smaller panel. Removing this panel exposes the sending unit.

The port sending unit is located by removing the two most aft floor access panels above the port engine. You will not have access to the top of the sending unit and when removing the old unit it comes out at an angle. I had to bend the rod slightly to get the float to clear the mounting hole. Be aware of this when replacing the unit.
Hope this helps someone.

Tim, my brother has a 355 Aft, '95. Access to anything on that boat is a disaster. Little projects become huge problems because of it. I had to listen to him whine for a week this spring when he had to replace his water heater.
