Looking for advice from someone that has real knowledge on this topic.
I have two split units on my boat the condensers are in the cockpit and the air handlers are in the cabin. One of the condensers is not getting cold it turns out this unit has two air handlers a port and a starboard unit making it very hard to replace with a simple combo unit which was my plan. Now the question is can I replace just the condenser unit with a 410 unit and use the existing hoses and air handlers? I have seen some articles that say it can't be done and then I have seen an ad from a home company in Vagas that said they do it all the time and it works just fine. Ideally I would like to just replace everything but this would be a major job and extremely expensive! While there are several Trojans on this forum I don't believe any of them have the same setup as my boat. This was done to keep the sound level to a minimum when the boat was built, this said the newer units run much quieter so I don't think it's an issue anymore. If there was a was to combine the port and starboard into one unit I would be happy but I'm seeing a way to do this. I may be able to abandon the starboard unit and add a vent on the port side but I would loose the captain's air as well.
Any advice welcome!
