Have a problem with a four forty four Caver charging system.
Two isolation blocks. Five batteries. All charge via Shore power (charger). All charge via generator. Nothing from either alternator?? Cannot get either alternator to fire-up. Each has exciter circuits. Rev. engines and get an output of approx. 5 volt max??? Not nearly enough to charge.
Any ideas???

you dont say wat engines but the ones supplied by Cummins on my diesels if the alterations were not used for a long time they needed some time at running speed to start. Once that happened they would start promptly until left unused for a while.

Apparently they are supposed to store some magnetism and that is supposed to be enough to get them started. I heard there was a way to flash the field but I never tried it.

They are Cummins. Brought them up to 2300 rpm. Still not Charging. You might be on to something?? Need direction on flashing the field.
