We're heading down to Norfolk this weekend and it will be our first time traveling by boat - we've done tons of day trips on the bay and have done the 5 hour trip from the York River to Annapolis all in one day. So the area and navigation aren't an issue.
This time we are thinking of breaking the trip somewhere in the middle and either anchoring or docking somewhere Friday night into Saturday at dawn. That should put us around the lower Potmac or Little Wicomico River. We have talked with Smith Island Marina and that may be a possiblity although our timing puts us outside their business hours.
This will be our first time sleeping on the boat so we'd appreciate any any suggestions on good anchorages or dockage and general tips.
