Vic, I've read your very informative write up about ice makers. In it you state “U-Line units, the motor is geared down to 3 RPM (takes 20 seconds to rotate 1 full turn); on the Raritan-built units, it is 1/3 RPM (takes 3 minutes to rotate 1 full turn)". It looks like Icemaker Motor Module Assembly - 628366 W10190935 is the replacement module but I can not find the rotation speed. This may be a stupid question but does the rotation speed matter?

Yes, the rotation speed matters. Which machine do you have? The number you gave (628366) is the manufacturer's number for the module, but isn't of any real use in trying to figure out which module you need - particularly if you don't tell us which machine you have.

Most of the manufacturers of marine icemakers use a commercial icemaker unit inside their machine - it's all a matter of which one they're using (GE, Whirlpool, Kenmore, etc.). U-Line makes their own, but most of the others don't.

In Raritan's case, they start out with a Whirlpool unit, but modify it for their particular application. So you can't buy a module off eBay, and expect it to work, if you have a Raritan machine.

I believe it's the Raritan unit. It was acting up last fall and I have it on my project list to fix before summer. I'm not scheduled to be back to the boat until the 22nd. I'll check make and model then. Thanks

my unit is a raritan. I replaced the icemaker with a universal unit (when I pulled out the old unit I saw corrosion in the tray) and it now harvests the ice but very slowly. I guess that's why the motor speed is important. But what's interesting is that the motor on the module I installed says one 1 rpm.

Depends on how old it is - before 1991, Raritan units were built by U-Line with the Raritan name on them. Beginning in 1991, all Raritan icemakers have been built by Raritan, and while they maintain the same outer dimensions, the inner mechanisms are quite a bit different.
