http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20110617/NEWS03/306179983 It was always my understanding that neither Canadian nor US boats had to call in to Customs unless you made landfall, anchored or transferred anything between you and another boat, but that apparently is not how they are enforcing it on the St Lawrence.

With the way we all criss cross the border, both at the Niagara Bar and walleye fishing on Erie (providing we have both licenses), this might be an issue we all have to concern ourselves with.

IMO these particular Canadian Border Patrol agents seemed a little bit heavy handed in this instance.
