Got a guy to come into our marina next spring and install synthetic teak on our boats. So far we have 4 boats confirmed and every one we add price goes down for every boat, so right now your looking at a 15% savings.

If you are interested in doing synthetic teak to your boat, email me and I will put you in touch with the guy doing so you can get a price.

You have to be serious as he is looking to sign contracts now, take deposits, build the sheets over the winter and do the installs in the spring.

Thanks!

Homeport: Anchorage YC - Lindenhurst, NY

Hurry up, we just signed contracts, but I am sure he can adjust all of us.
If interested, now is the time. Price is going up next year on all plastics and he is ordering our stuff now.
That plus we are doing 4 boats all at the same time is getting us a big saving.

Why synthetic teak? your missing out on the fun of the upkeep on real teak..

Dave, does the boat need to be at AYC or will they do it where the boat lies? Also, when does the work need to be done by? Is this Plastiteak or Flexiteak?

He is doing it in spring. I am sure nearby will be good. He is coming up from NC. Product is called plasdeck. Better than the 2 You named.

Hi Dave, Send me an email, I have a good friend interested in doing some interior synthetic teak and his boat is at Anchorage. tcontic <at> optonline <dot> net.

Dave
I may be interested and have a couple of questions:
I assume since he’s coming up from NC that going to the North Shore is no big deal for him?
I see the stuff runs about $20 per sqft raw did he supply any rough finished cost estimates?
The Plasdeck site shows they have a dealer in Babylon, why the NC guy?

Dave, just curious on what you thought was better about this product? I would love to cover my swim platform.

Andy,
He is also doing my boat (swim platform, cockpit, gunnel steps and steps up to the bridge
I am sure going to your boat is no problem
The guy in Babylon is no good IMHO
The guy in NC is the guy you want, he installs this stuff for major manufacturers like Sea Ray, lots of info about him on the net.

Price installed was close to half of what I was quoted a few years back for Flexi-Teek and a lot less than the guy Babylon.

My boat is costing me $5,500.00

The products are very similiar, in fact Flexiteek tried to sue plasdeck and won, but now its been reveresed.
Cost of product is about $42/sf installed, so you can use that to get a idea of how much for your particular boat.
If you want to do it yourself then it is a little less, around $30/sf

The install is not hard, there is no sanding needed, it lays over the existing non skid.
In fact some installs can be done like a rug if its a area where there are no hatches and you want to be able to pull it up for cleaning or fishing.

This guy is advertised in SeaRay Living. I spoke to him back when I first got my boat and there was scratches on the swim platform. I tried to get regal to cover cost of the teak but they opted to repair the scratches. I have never been happy with the repair, though you would never see it unless I pointed it out.

Either way, its a great deal because we have 4 boats doing it and I am sure he will add others, but you have to commit becuase he is making templates down there and then preparing the material down there. He will then come up here and I guess its like laying carpet, he will cutoff excess and glue and lay down mat. So he has to be able to find your make and model near his office to make the template.

Also note that the plasdeck has not had a price increase and he was told 1/1/11 it is going up big time, so now is the time to sign and order the material if your going to do it!!

Some good videos on the stuff on youtube

Not sure how many boats he can do in 1 day. Right now we are all in AYC, but get in touch with him and ask!

Did you all get your boats done? Are you happy with the outcome?

John,
I think it will be in April, key factor to putting this stuff in is temperature. I am sure it will look great, I am sure the guy doing it is the best, I am sure the product is ok. The deal is, does it get too hot in our neck of the woods. Really won't know that till the season is done.

Good, bad or if it sucks, those that know me, know I will call it the way it is. If you never saw my "Hardtop" thread, you should, then you will get that I will say it the way it is.

Hope all is good because I really love the look.

Walter

Looks like work will be done in May.
Probably still time to get in on our deal if anyone is interested.
Trust me, we are getting a great price!

Good Luck with the install..........hope you guys like it when its finished. That stuff looks great...I always wanted to install it on my swim platform.
