My running gear is covered in left over barnacles rings from last year as well as just general crud. I've got a 4 blade prop, a large bronze rudder and a bronze shaft housing to clean up.I'm not sure if i should try using my right angle grinder with a brass wire wheel in it or my palm sander with a heavy grit sand paper or something else. Looking for suggestions.

Are you talking about Mary Kate EZ on - EZ off, or EZ off oven cleaner?

Marykate - Just watch your nose hairs!
Stuff will burn skin and nose hairs.
Wear good rubber gloves and goggles and cloths you don't give a cr*p about.
It is basically muriatic acid and will eat any growth without eating fiberglass or metal.
Also be sure to spray with plenty of water when done scrubbing.
Will make all metal nice and shiny!

I second the MaryKate. I had the same crud all over the running gear and trim tabs and they cleaned up nicer than Dolly Parton after a barbeque. Make sure you wear gloves as well - and don't let it drip on anything you don't want stained - like a trailer.

MaryKate or just buy dilute muriatic acid to remove the calcium deposits with the above-mentioned cautions. Don't let it drip on concrete. Fine 3M Scotch-Brite discs in a polisher, grinder, drill, etc., can be used to further condition the prop surfaces if desired.
