I posted this in NBR and it was suggested that I post it here.
I'm still getting calls from businesses interested in hiring me, but they are all from the US..
Can anyone tell me what the Auburn, MA area is like?...

It's near Worcester, along the Massachusetts Turnpike, about 1 hr from Boston (maybe a bit less). I can't speak from experience, I've just driven through it and never been impressed, but I've never been in the residential areas either, I've just seen it from the Pike.

Auburn is a decent town, mostly residential and a suburb to Worcester, which has not seen the revival that mid-sized cities like Providence have seen.

It sounds like the job is Auburn, which gives you lots of options so to where to live as there are major highways nearby. This area has seen lots of growth because the housing prices are well below metro-Boston and many technology companies, especially biotech, have settled in Worcester and surrounding areas along Route 495.

Happy to provide more info...I went to college in Worcester and live ~45 minutes away.

Quiet .. and some what rural ... not much boating out there .. but basically like everyone else said . Dont hear much about it on the news either so I assume crime is low

As noted above Auburn which is a suburb of Worcester is second only to Boston in the number of colleges. That would include Holy Cross and Worcester Poly-Tech. You are about one hour from boating on Narragansett Bay, an hour from Providence and Boston, and a short ride to some decent ski areas. I think there might be some lake boating out that way as well.
Like most New England locations you have some excellent areas and some nasty stuff.
Stay clear of the women on Piedmont Street in Worcester.
