Automatic boat fenders

Heh- Interesting & clever concept but those devices sticking out from the hull like that are just begging to be ripped off by dock pilings, other boat rigging , etc..
Also, that rig doesn't work with pilings which need horizontal fender deployment .

Cute but if someone can't get off their but to set fenders they should be in an RV :)

Frankly you really only need fender for floaters or bulkheads. For wood piling the rub rail is fine for docking and fenders can be set after

Combine those fenders and a windlass and sell them as a "marage saver" option.

Very cool! That was my idea, but I wanted it to come out of rub rail so it would be longer and protect more boat and be able to be lowered at different spots to protect against lower docks. Also could be sectioned in 4 sections so you can release where you need. I guess my idea is not a aftermarket item and would need to be built into new boats.

I have a bunch of boat ideas.

1) Automatic seacocks. So they would close at a push of button and open. Switch would have lights to show when open or closed and saftey to prevent start if closed unless over-ridden.

2) Automatic anchor lock - Basically a chain grabber that would engage a special link and would latch and grab that link at a push of a button.

I actually hate automation and I think the more that gets automated the worse things get. My friend has a digital electronic flush sensing vacuflush and has more issues with the switch than my manual push pedal vacuflush. But I am always looking for business ideas.

Boat ideas?? :D Thoroughly digressing from the fenders concepts...:

How about a boat gizmo that automatically puts a slimy eel on the rod & reel hook and deploys it while taking the boat out of gear whenever going over large stripers detected by the F/F?

Or perhaps one which sprays non-toxic biodegradable liquid (eel slime????) ( or uses an ultrasonic or electronic pulse beam which vaporizes the top 2/3 of waves?) ahead of the boat to help calm angry seas?

Or a football sized effective and affordable yaw & roll stabilizer for relatively small boats, or a pocket-size nuclear-powered(?) one for POB's. Lead lined of course.

Or an economical molecule-splitting device to allow use of oxygen and hydrogen gas fuel from the sea at less cost than gas or diesel at the pumps, and which provides that fuel at at least the max rate the converted engines could consume it?

Or a feasible "tractor drive " for recreational vessels? Ok , not sure what the heck that is supposed to be but Tom Clancy liked it!

Or FWC gas engine exhaust system which has both manifolds AND ELBOW/RISERS cooled with A/F coolant with corrosion inhibitors? ( Note: Crusader already does this with its newer "Catanium" catylitic exhaust systems which should last much longer than old-type elbow/risers in SW in terms of potential corrosion and blockage.)

And perhaps all boats with pressurized FW systems should come factory-equipped with plumbed-in windshield sprayers.

HA! Perfect for the type of boat shown on. All too often owners of the tennis shoe boats have little idea of boat handling & are the ones most likely to approach a dock with no lines or fenders ready & little idea of how to set them. We have self parking cars for those who cannot drive. Self docking boats are not far off. Gizmos are great for the plastic fantastic crowd. Great until they fail.

I have 4 fenders on each side. The 4 on each side are all attached at the bottom with one rope. The rope then goes to the back of the boat. When I want my fenders lifted I pull the rope at the back, tie it off and all fenders are lifted.

Love it! Heh.

That wouldn't fit all situations but it's clever and pretty efficient.

Do you not have a rail, or do all fenders swing up between stanchions so only 1/2 the diameter sticks out?
