Did anyone have any barnicle issues this season? I was amazed that the bottom, props, rudder, etc. have no barnicles at all. The boat has been in the water since July and not one. Last year my drive, trim tabs and the bottom had a few.

No salt in the water this year, so no barnacles

MJK, am interested in what you used on your running gear. I had no barnacles but was loaded with worms on running gear but boat was run very infrequently. Have "always" used clear a/f on running gear & haven't found anything that works 1/10 as well as the old banned tributyltin product.

Did you say worms? I have never heard of this. Do they hang on when you are moving? I just can't even picture this, the fish must love your boat.
Am I missing something here. Please post a picture.

In Waretown NJ the nuclear plant creates an environment for the worms I believe we are talking about. When it 1st opened many wood boats had problems. I'm pro Nuclear but a certain kind of marine worm thrives near the warm water it creates.

Whatever the previous owner had on the boat was what I left being it was a half season.

Dave, I'm calling them worms. I think they have been called Tube worms? They look like short pieces of spagetti just laying on top of each other. Very hard like a barnacle. Funny, I recently deleted pix of these creatures attached to my props & rudders. Haven't been able to find technical name or pic of same as yet. If & when; I'll post.

BillyIII, those worms you're referring to as a result of the power plant are different to what I'm referring to. Those initial worms actually attacked wooden pilings; like a termite. My worm like organism is of a hard calcium composition; like that of a mollusk.

Just provide an addrss and I will be happy to send a plastic bag full to you. Every six weeks all year long a diver cleans my boat. Be glad you don't have to put up with this.

John C., thanks for the offer but I had more than I needed. Maybe someone else on the forum could use them.

Unless you can use them for bait I'm guessing you are stuck with them.
