Does barrier coat ever need to be redone or wear out? If so, after how many years (fresh water, Great Lakes environment)?

My thoughts on this, having never had a need for a barrier coat is: I would think it should last indefinitely unless you have bottom blasted or stripped to bare glass. Since there will be at least one add'l coat of paint over the barrier coat it should be protected from all the elements thus making it immortal.

It should not wear out. But, that's a little short of saying that if you barrier coat, you should never have a hull moisture issue.

It's still a good idea though. If for some reason you are beaching the boat, yeah, you could wear it off. But, hopefull its obvious you want to avoid beaching like that in any scenario.
