Tomorrow, February 2nd (Ground Hog Day), my wife and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We went to the Crab Trap Restaurant, in Somers Point, NJ this past Saturday night, to celebrate. Had to drive home (approx 20 miles) in a FREAKIN' SNOW STORM !!! We got 8" on the ground before it finally stopped. Yesterday and today, the sun came out, and it's down to about 3" remaining on the ground now.
Why did we pick such an odd day to get married (it was a Monday) you ask?
Two reasons:
1) It was my day off. At the time, I was the Day Manager of the Starting Gate Bar and Lounge, in Laurel, MD. Mondays were my only day off.
2) It was my grandmother's birthday - her 86th. She lived to be 89.
We were married at 1:00 PM (originally scheduled for 12:00 noon) by a judge at the County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro, MD. It almost didn't come off that day. My wife's divorce papers from her first marriage had sat on his desk for over two weeks without having been signed by him. [B)] He had to go back to his office, dig through the stack, find them and sign them so that we could get married. My wife-to-be wasn't amused - especially since she'd been at the hairdresser's early that same morning, and one of the dryers caught fire while she was there. The firemen came in and turned off their electricity before attempting to deal with the fire. She had just come out of the sink from getting her hair washed and sat there, looking like a drowned rat [B)][B)] for quite a while before they turned the electric back on. All in all, it started out pretty bad...
But it got a lot better as time went on. [:-jump][:-jump2][:-jump][:-jump2]
