Best Way to Clean Power Cords

I received a hint from a captain today, and that was to use Bio-Solv. It is an acetone replacement. They indicate no hardening of the power cords etc. and they have several 50A cords all white and looking good.
West Marine has a like kind product and I picked up a 1/2 gallon. Works very well!

Of course you could also go with what Marinco suggests, which is soap and water. But if that does not work they suggest "Acetone works best for those really stubborn scuff marks".

I have used acetone in the past and this stuff was much more pleasant to work with and provided faster results.

Edit: I finished up the cord. I had not given it a thorough cleaning since we bought it because I did not want to use acetone. So Spring of 2009 is when it was new.
It took about 2.5 hours total. As long as I kept it wet and worked it with a rag the stuff floated right off. I think it works better because it does not evaporate any where near as fast as acetone.

I'll buy the man that clued me in a beer!
