I have an opportunity to grab a slip at my Florida home.
Slip has a 14,000lb boat lift I am told.

I don't know condition yet, working on that.
Assume it's in good shape, what is approx value of it?

Thanks!

Got more info.
Lift installed in 2008 for $9K
Guy says it needs a relay, he can make it work by pushing on it but will need service.
He says he would like to get $2500 for it.

Sounds fair?

My only concern would be if it is sitting in salt water. (Might have to pull or dive to check the base)

Are you buying the slip as well?

11 years in salt water? Steel or aluminum?

Little or no value becaus he can’t sell it without the expense of moving it and finding someone willing to move an old lift and it also old piles will be a problem.

have you seen it?

I bought a house with a five YO steel lift that was already rusting and in need or some repair. Since I fixed everything my self it was still working and rusting ten years later but looked awful.

Don’t know much about them but I was talking to someone recently who was replacing his and I don’t remember exactly how old it was but I think it was about 10 years old. I remember being surprised that it would need replacing and he said it had reached it’s saltwater life expectancy.
Needs a relay? That would have my antenna up the way it used to be raised years ago when I was a kid and looking at used cars and the seller said “needs a tune-up”. Safe to say that rough idle almost never needed just a tune-up.

the cables are a normal maintenance item and depending on how the lift is used (not how often) they may only last about 5 years.

Bearings and gears should be greased annually

A galvanized cradle will not last as long as an aluminum one

Labor to REMOVE and barge and install and piling costs may outweigh what little savings you might realize over a new lift.

I would be concerned for my own boat on a lift of questionable maintenance and repair.
