Anyone know of the situation that developed around 3:30 on the north end of the cut. Heard it was center console half submerged .

Rob

Nope. But we had our own over by ayc.
Small bow rider. Dead motor.
Floating swiftly toward the rocks by entrance.
I see guy tryiing to start it and his girl on swim platform with a pole like she is going to push off rocks if they get close.
I yell, throw a anchor. Guy throws anchor, let's out line boat stops about 10 feet from rocks.
So I say, you have sea tow. Response is no.
Assessing situation
Guy in a center console sees this asks if he can help.
Yes please do.
Do you have a rope he says. Response no.
He gets out a rope that is about 10 feet long. Wtf.
He comes close. Throws rope. Boats are bouncing a lot.
He goes in gear while other guy try's to free anchor.
Both boats begin to go sideways towards rocks.
But the guy is able to keep control and they are both under way.
Phew.
No way I was helping him with my boat. I would of walked over to sea tow and said go help.
Those rocks are ugly and it ws high tide so there is no seeing the submerged ones.

Why is boating 80% idiots?

We saw it, don't know how it happened. It was completely swamped to the gunwales from what I could see. People were walking around it possibly trying to salvage stuff or bail it. Bay Constable was in the Cut getting people to slow down.

Sea Tow was towing a 26 something west bound in the state channel around gilgo when A 48 Sedan Bridge named Just chillin comes hauling ass... Slows down to max wake mode ( what a fing tool ) and swamps seatow, the boat in tow and everyone else that slowed down to not rock the vessel in distress. What an FING PUTZ !!!!!

So yea Bay constable has to direct traffic cause boaters are idiots and show zero respect !

Rob

I think I remember seeing that " Just Chillin " docked over at SS3 .....canal side.

In this case the sunk boat was way off to the side, I saw the BC well before I saw them. I'm not sure I would have even looked over there. There are often people beached over there to clam or whatever. With the Sunday afternoon traffic in the Cut, I was more concerned with the guy in front of me going just under my minimum planing speed, and the big guys behind me breathing down my neck. So it was good that the BC basically blocked the channel and forced people to idle.

When u mentioned the bay constable slowing boats down I remembered the " TOOL " !

Alot times I like u dont look that far outside the channel as there is way to much going on ....

Rob

Don. I wouldnt doubt he is out of SS3.

When Im running my big boat, I look as far out as possible to see what Im getting myself into..

I say it all the time, anyone with money can buy a boat, just doesnt mean they know what they are doing..

I think the owner was rushing to board a Delta flight to Saudi Arabia :)

I passed by the northern end of the cut heading west at around 1:30 today and then again about 4:30 on the way back. I didn't go through the cut, but I didn't notice anything going on there.

Were a lot more forgiving in the LICC, NBR can be a real tough place.
