Wanting to go into Boca Chita Thursday 2/5/15 around 1:00pm...Can anyone in the Miami area give me local knowledge as to the depths at entrance...
We draft 4'10'.........
Is Pascal out there anywhere????

I don' have first-hand knowledge, but here is what Active Captain has:
The harbor entrance at low tide is approximately four feet. Any deep draft vessel requiring 3.5 or more feet of water should exercise extreme caution in this area. Low tide is calculated by adding one hour and forty-three minutes to the time that the tide is low at Miami's Government Cut. High tide is plus one hour twenty-four minutes from the time that the tide is high at the Miami's Government Cut.

I ve been there many times with my hatt which draws 4' and never had to worry about tide. Shallowest point is just past the 3rd and final set of buoy with about 5' MLW. Try to time it mid tide and up just to play it safe but I know many people we go there with 5' draft and no worries

If the breeze dies make sure you have some OFF as the no see hums and mosquitoes can be felt.

Winterc weeks days are Best. Too crowded on week ends

Yes make sure you have at least 2 cans of OFF just in case one can malfunctions.

Here's a small concern on the other end of the spectrum. It's near a full moon now, and on some extreme full moon or extreme new moon high tides, the water can actually be over the bulkhead where you tie up, and your fenders will float above it, giving you no protection from rubbing the bulkhead.

We enjoyed Boca Chita quite a few times when I had my boat down there a few years ago. Never had an issue with low water, other than not being accustomed to seeing the sea floor until it is too late. Biscayne bay is gorgeous and tons of dolphins. Really beautiful spot and great views from the lighthouse. Enjoy!
