91 carver 260 command bridge. Bow pulpit is cracked and shot. Got an estimate of $1300 to rebuild I then went online and got a estimate from a company that reconstructs one off your existing pulpit for 1/2 that price and it's made of plastic. Anybody know about these recycled plastic bow pulpits that will never rot are strong and 1/2 the price of teak or a rebuild? Some pics below of my existing one removed from boat. Any thing I should be aware of?

I think you've found a good deal! The plastic one should be lighter and just as strong!
 
I don't have one, but this is the way I would go. (And before long, I am going to need one.) I don't think I would have a problem getting a new bow pulpit from Plasteak. Its a well respected name in the marine industry.
 
if you have the pulpit off already...can't you just re-core it? I recored my swim platform last year...really isn't that difficult...did it myself, and then you keep the original look to the boat and not an "add on" plastic pulpit.
 
to recore the orig. would have been a major pain besides I am not experienced in fiberglass repair. Plasteak is building my new one now for $600 it's approx 4'long 16" wide and there will be a hole towards the end for the line to drop down through...I think the orig carver pulpit was a poor design..it's to long and not strong enough for boat's weight. I UPSed my old pulpit(40Lbs) to them for $20 and emailed them pics to aid them w/the design.
 
sounds good. Are you getting a "teak" looking one, or white?

That original pulpit was a little long to not have any support rods underneath. My '88 2767 Montego has a nice stainless support rod between it and the hull.
 
white...It's also half the weight of the orig. stronger, and maintenance free(never rot) I plan on getting a new plow anchor. Any body know were the best deal on one is and what size to get if the boat is almost 9,000 pounds 28ft
 
Of course, I'd look at Boatfix.com forst for the anchor. If they don't carry what you like, check out Hamilton Marine in Maine. No tax, cheap shipping, great prices, fast service. I got mine there and love it.
