Do they close off Bowline for the fireworks or can you go in there and anchor?

I've heard getting there early lets you in. Once it starts to fill a bit they close it off.

Last year we were anchored pretty close but outside of Bowline. We didn't notice it that night, but in the morning we saw the fireworks "crap" all over the boat. Sooty fragments of the shells all over the deck. It was a mess! I guess it was just the way the wind was blowing that night, but I won't go in that close again.

I usually hang out on the river back quite a ways. I did not anchor the last time I went, got there just before they started and just tooled around away from everyone. It was kind of cool because as soon as they were over I could just leave.

Hey Joe, didn't see you around Saturday.

Does anyone have a fireworks schedule for the towns in the lower hudson, ie haverstraw, nyacks, croton, ossining etc. not sure which towns do it and what day they are doing it.

Thanks,

As Rommer said, they close it once the traffic picks up...I usually spend the day there but wont get there till late this time so we hope we can get in...

Thanks all. Not sure yet what we will do. Judy, we had a family reunion on Saturday up in CT so that shot the day. We were there Sunday but did not see you.

ok, thanks John. Not sure how I missed that one. That helps.

We had a graduation party for our niece on that paddle wheel boat from Newburgh. 3 hours to get from Newburgh to West Point & back. Six knots the whole way. Barges & sailboats were flying by. YIKES! Let us know what you are up to Wednesday, maybe we can raft up.

Does it usually get real crowded in the pond Butch?

Not as bad as outside, we usually end up with 10 boats or so in the raftup...

Judy
We are going to Bowline tonight for the fireworks. Probably leave around 6 or so and relax for a while. You guys are more than welcome to raft up with us.
