Burned water tube cause?

On the water for about 10 minutes yesterday. Got the boat up to plane and it started smoking like crazy. Engine was extremely hot. I figured it was an impeller issue, so I dropped the lower unit and found this. The impeller actually looks decent. Has anyone seen this before and have any guess as to the cause? Reading other threads, I am thinking a blockage somewhere prevented water from cooling the engine, resulting in this.

Lack of water flow at high sped is the cause. Did you perform any service prior to launch?

Thanks for your reply. No. This was my 4th time using the boat. No previous issues. The piece of whiteish plastic (pictured) fell out when removing the lower portion, and I found a half oval screen that was loose. I’m wondering if these created blockage… also, I’m not sure where they came from.
