Dave, we chartered with VIP last spring and had a nice trip. We had previously chartered with them in 2008 and like you, I felt the boats were getting a little tired so this time around wanted to look at other options. In looking into what was available it seemed that there were very few options for power boats (less than back in 2008), and in the end went back to VIP. Moorings has much newer boats but it would have been thousands more for a cat with a layout I didn't particularly like and less room overall, so we went back to VIP. Maybe it was a case of reduced expectations, but the boats didn't seem any worse then they were in 2008. I also got the 59' this time which I liked better than the 49' in terms of space and how it handled. Everything ran fine except for a problem with the water heater and aft deck lights going out I was able to fix. So, all in all, given the options I'd probably use them again. I only recall seeing one Virgin Traders boat down there and it didn't look any newer than what we were on.
