I heard that there were some really bad winds nearby. I think gusts were very localized. If it was 70 or 100 mph in the Corps of Engineers Basin, my canvas would have been gone. I had the whole camper canvas up. But, it could have been 100 near your house a short walk away, given the destruction. Very, very localized. Someone said they had a gust of 153 at the Bohemia River. Several sailboats were sunk. I'm not sure how that was measured with no weather stations down there.
The Chesapeake Inn did use generators, but they only powered the Inn itself..... not the docks. We had a room in the ShipWatch Inn, which had no power the whole night. Luckily, all the rain cooled it to about 75. As it was heating up the next morning, we were thinking of checking in to the Holiday Inn Express in North East, which had power. But, the power came on mid-day, and we remained checked in at the ShipWatch Inn.
We had two of those drunk land idiots mosey down to C-dock on Sat night, and try to start trouble. Andy the dockmaster and security dragged them out. Another brief scuffle Fri night that turned out to be another non-boater. My general rule is that if they have more tattooed skin than un-tattooed skin, they are generally non-boaters, and often looking to cause trouble.
By the way, we'll be staying at the Blue Max Inn this upcoming Fri and Sat nghts. We'll try not to jam those keys in your door! LOL! You should open the "Red Roof B&B" to compete with the Blue Max. There's only 4 B&Bs with a total of 28 rooms in town that are often filled up. ... Possible money maker there.
Anyway, we'll be watching the fireworks Friday night (July 6) from the T-Head of C-Dock where we'll be tied up for the night. Come on by if you'd like. Some friends from Richmond, VA will be joining us, too.
