Anyone know where I can get a lock for my main cabin lexan sliding door, or a photo or what the lock assembly looks like so i can fab one?

Boat is a 1991 Carver 538 Montego (Express)

That's a Mobella lock ass'y. You can look it up on Southco/ Mobellas website. I found a picture of it on yachtworld dot com under a 1992 538 Montego. It came up on the first boat (Southaven MI), scroll through the pics and you'll find it. I also found an older (1990) 35 Montego with door pictures (Eastlake, OH) and it shows a different style of lock assy. Look them over and see which one you might need.

If any one has a 538, 35 or a 380 Carver, Please send a pic of the door lock assy - to davsant24 rb2@gr5t msn.com

The question is...

Is it this one:

Or the round silver cylinder kind?

How do I post a pic.

It's the round silver cylinder, which goes through the door handle.

RamSport47 - any idea on what the lock is, it is not the one shown in the photo.

Carver used a lot of locks by Lamp Co. Not sure if they're still in business, but you can do an internet search on them. They also used locks by Hafele in that era. Hafele is probably the manufacturer of the one you need.

None of them jump out, I would the cam would have to have a notch in it and there keeper would have a post that the cam would latch over.

use photobucket to host your pix then post a link.

I can picture the lock in my head, I just can't find anything on it. As soon as I do, I'll post

I had one in my hand yesterday on a 38 Montego, but I wasn't going to take it apart from the door. I cant find anything online that looks identical. Does yours have the funny looking key or a regular one?

It also just dawned on me that a lot of Sea Rays used the same type of lock. A 1997 500 Sundancer has the same lock I believe.

It appears they use this brand: http://www.abloy.com/en/abloy/abloycom/Products-MPC/

I know the lock that it is...I just have to find it in my memory banks. There is a plastic spring loaded "tab" on the inside to operate the lock from inside the boat and the exterior is a pretty large oval to fill that oval hole in the door.

I FOUND IT! It is/was made by Eberhard Manufacturing. I spent a little time on their website and didn't find it, but I found one on a boat here that is identical and that's the name stamped on the backside. You can give them a call and describe it to them and see if they still have it available.

Kenny,

that's great too bad there's no Part number on it, will call them today.

Eberhard responce -Unfortunately this is an item that we discontinued over 12 years ago…. We made it special for one specific account and they discontinued it. We have no substitute nor do we have any remaining components

Sorry to hear that...I'm not sure what you can do now other than try to retrofit a different lock assy. In later model years, they used a pretty standard looking Mobella lock. You could see if that will work for you.

It may but I will have to move the handle to the left like the photo above.
