Does anyone have any alternative suggestions for docking at Cedar Point? We have been going to the Point for the July 4th holiday for 6 years and due to the new docking situation, have decided to skip this year. We are quite disappointed with the new location of the transient slips (we attempted to stay there the first year and had quite a poor experience). Last year we just stayed on the day docks (not a big deal when you have a generator) however this year they are not allowing it. Unfortunately the only few transient slips in a good location (50') are booked solid for years!

We were pretty excited to take our 3 year old daughter for her first "Camp Snoopy" experience by boat, but are now actually considering going by car (I can't believe I am actually saying that). It doesn't even have to do with the price of gas. Really, the new location is not desirable and really not safe either.

Sorry for the long note -if anyone has any ideas or knows of anyone who would like to "rent" out their slip for the weekend of the 4th (not sure if I can ask that, but we are desperate here!) please let me know. We are a quiet family of 3 that just loves Cedar Point!

Thanks!

I have been able to get a 50' slip 2-3x per year without any issues. 4th of July is usually one of our favorite times to go. But I do call a few months in advance.

Thanks for the response. Suprisingly, the 4th of July weekend is not busy at all; that is why we love to go too! I called at the end of March and the 50' slips were gone -I think there are more people doing what we want to do because of the new slips...

jowens...you can stay at Castaway Bay marina...also owned by Cedar Point. They have shuttles that run from Castaway to Cedar Point so you don't have to look for other transportation. Castaway is the marina right by TGI Fridays by the causeway. Much more scenic than the new transients.

jowens...you could also stay overnight at any of the Marinas in Sandusky Bay. Right across the bay is Battery Park...they have transient dockage...and if your desitination was Cedar Point you could always go across for the day. You can see the fireworks from Battery Park as well.
