Just restored out on the river cruising with many people, and crunch. While they remembered the danger signal (but not much else) and used it, that horn was so weak I doubt anyone on the freighter heard it. I don't understand why sailboats expect large commercial vessels to navigate around them on a whim. The video would seem to indicate they made a very bad call on which way to turn or otherwise avoid collision.

Captain is an idiot. I don't care who has right of way. I'm a firm believer that tonnage trumps any rules of the road.

Moron.. he had plenty of time to alter course and prevent the collision.....

At the last minute they tried to come about when it would have been easy to fall off, stupid

Error by the master of the schooner Elbe from beginning to end .

It reminded me of the 40-something foot sailing vessel under power which attempted to turn about directly into the path of the Steamship Authority ferry in the narrow Hyannis , MA outer channel and got run right down .( 1970's?) Sailboat sunk /all POB miraculously saved.

Sailboat capt.'s fault 100% also.

Both incidents completely and easily avoidable.
