My 30 amp power cables are really cruddy and need to be cleaned. I attempted to do so last season with over counter "marine" cord cleaner but result is worse than ever. Any suggestions; solvent etc. and what can be used to seal them.

I have used acetone, and it is slick, but leaves sticky after awhile. I recently switched to a product called 'oops' which is a stain remover, and I apply it with a 'Majic Eraser ' grocery store. I then treat with 303 protector. I have tried some other solutions for treatment, but we have a cablemaster, and if ours gets too slick the grab wheels will not bring it in. btw I get oops at a Tru-Value hardware store.

I just use the M. Eraser wetted out with 303, not water, to clean shore power cables and washdown hoses for 1 step cleaning, protecting, but I try to get to them before they get too bad.
