Compounding / Waxing / Polishing with Imron Paint

I took some time yesterday and did a little work on the red stripe.

I took some 3M super duty compound and watered it down so it acted as a wet sand, and not a harsh compound. The color came back, but it doesnt have a real deep shine. Not having a deep shine is fine with me as long as the color is there I am fine. Im going for a clean look, not a super shine look.

I only did the compound, and I didnt put anything on top of it yet. Just wanted to see how it came out. PLUS, i did it by hand, not with a wheel..Im sure with a wheel it would come out just a bit better.

thank you all for the advice

In my experience it will look OK while it still has that wet look but that will soon fade and the faded color coat look will return in short order.

BoatC,

You have to gradually use less and less grit to bring back the shine. Super duty compound will not get you to a shine, you should look at using Meguires Diamond Cut 85 as you next step. After that, use a fine polish and if it will come back you will see it then.
