I have a pump out porta potti and am interested in converting to a vacuflush unit. I saw a conversion unit in the most recent "Boating" magazine that include a toilet, vacuum pump, and portable 9 gallon holding tank. Has anyone made this conversion? Just wondering if it's worth it. I already have the pump out ystem..it's just connected to a porta potty.

I did that conversion last year, best money we have ever spent.
It is a challenge to get water to the unit which is required all the time the unit is operational, but well worth it.
I suggest you buy a spare tank just in case the first one gets full, you just switch them out.

I did my conversion last summer it was the best money I spent upgrading our boat. I am using a 45 gallon tank which is overkill and goes a long ways between pump outs.

Thanks for the replies guys. About time - how did you solve the issue with getting water to the unit? What manufactureer did you use for the new unit?

I tapped in to the cold water line for the sink next to the head and used a check valve. I also have a manual shut off valve. Take care. Bill

bpbh,
I did the same thing BillyIII did.
Working under the sink and finding the correct fittings was the hard part.

Thanks Guys. I'll be looking at options for the conversion at the boat show this year.
