Can anyone tell me if a 1987 Sea Ray 30' Weekender has a cored bottom. Was discussing this with a neighbor and not sure. I know Sea Ray was using cored bottoms but not sure what years they started.
Thanks.

Bill

I believe it is a solid hull, no coring. I think they started coring entire hulls sometime in the mid nineties - someone will know for sure.

Hi Bill, This vessel has a solid glass hull. Coring was only put in the larger Sea Rays located in the freeboard areas.

Solid glass. I've drilled through a hull for an AC pickup on a similar vessel.

I'm not so sure about that statement. Sea Ray did core the bottom of larger vessels below the water line, not just the freeboard, for certain (larger) models during certain model year runs. The best way to find out for sure if your Sea Ray has a cored bottom is to call their customer service department with a HIN # or send them an email with your request.

dominic, Where talking about a 30' 1987 Sea Ray. Coring in smaller Sea Rays may have been around durning the 70s. Any from 1980 on up would not be cored.

My '89 300da has a solid glass hull as per the Sea Ray manual.

Re-read my post. You said:

And my comment was that larger Sea Rays were not ONLY cored in the freebaord areas. Larger Sea Rays were also cored below the water line.

I think the confusion here is the definition of Larger.

dominic, I was considering the year model/vintage. (1987). Cored hulls on Sea Rays have not been around since the 70s.
