OK, I'm stumped. I have twin 454 crusaders on a 1982 Trojan 10M express. The port engine periodically won't start and exhibits low voltage. I replaced the alternator, battery, battery cables, and the 50A fuse. I thought I solved the problem when I replaced the battery and a suspicious looking negative battery wire--I got good charging voltage and the problem cleared. Next time I went out, however, the voltage dropped to 11.5. I ran the engine for 1/2 hour, then shut it down. After that, it would crank but would not start. The low oil pressure alarm sounded jittery when the ignition was off, although that problem has cleared now that the battery is fully charged. I took all electrical loads off the engine and the problem still persisted, so I believe I'm facing a problem in the wiring harness or helm or the wires connecting the two. When the engine runs, it purrs, save for the low voltage. It has electronic ignition and a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, starter, and carb.
