I am converting a couple of old gates to chain, and have to cut the railing at a few locations. It came out great, but the cut did take me a while with a dremel multi max and carbide bit. Does anyone suggest another portable tool/blade that might do the job faster? I'll probably keep cutting them in place, as they are long pieces and the boat is far away from home, so working in the warehouse is what I have available.

Your on the right track. SS is a bitch to cut.
Alright well that's good to know. I felt a bit silly as it probably took me like 20 minutes. But in the scheme of things I guess that's not bad... it's just that this is one of the dozens of 'small and easy' projects we're tackling, as opposed to the big ones, so I was hoping for a 'break' when I decided to do it. :D

Put a metal cutting blade on your mitre saw and have at it.

Hand held band saw works well but its hard to keep it straight.

Metal cutting disk in a hand held grinding tool Must be the thin cutting blade.

Thanks everyone. I may just do the same thing again, as it was 'easy' and very stable and safe, even if time consuming. The angle of attack of the oscillating tool did work well and there was never any tendency to move or dance around. I do like the Cam's idea, mainly as an excuse to buy myself a tool that I don't have. Thanks!
