I bought my boat from a dealer here in ct last august and it ran great the 2 months we had it in the water. Because the boat was a 2001 I did all the five year stuff bellows manifolds ect.. I also had them do other things like install chart plotter fishfinder ect. In the end I did $4,100 worth of work. When the boat was first put in the water it was taking on a steady drip of water they pulled the boat right out the same day and they said the problem had something to do with oil reservoir tube and that they fixed. The boat went in again all seemed fine I then went out for a test drive and the out drive oil reservoir was empty by the time I got to the harbor and back about 15 minutes and again I heard a drip of water they then pulled the boat again. This time the problem was crack or something where the oil resviour tube connected to the outdrive. They then put the boat in the water again this time I had the owner come for a ride with me we went out to the harbor drove for a few minutes and came back and all looked good. This Sunday my wife and I went out for the first time since the ridwe with the dealer (last week) to the thimbles about a 4 mile round trip ride we came back and I noticed the drive lube was down just a tad but I did not think much of it as it was just a very little bit and figured it may have been just due to an air pocket well today Monday I went to the thimbles again and when I got back to the dock I noticed my oil was down to just above the add line. I am now very concerned and want this fixed once and for all. Needless to say I have lost confidence with the Dealer to fix this problem they caused. I know many of you will say run away from this dealer but I have the issue of money I paid and can't afford to just walk away from that money and pay someone to fix it right. Not to mention I think my wife will divorce me if I spent more money to fix a problem the dealer caused. So how do I go about this? What would you do? One option I am thinking of suggesting to them is for me to pay my marina to repair the problem and have the dealer take what ever the bill is from the marina off of winter storage at their place. I should mention the dealer has been very friendly but I just don't feel confident they can repair this problem. I would also hate to have to get my attorney involved as they have been good about everything so far..
