Dinner cruise ship strikes pier in B'more - runs

Only cosmetic damage to Spirit of Baltimore, but the pier is wrecked.

You'll see "Leight of Day" in this photo. That is George Leight's boat (a friend of mine). He made it through The Marines in Beirut Lebanon years ago but was almost taken out by dinner cruise boat! He told me there was a boat tied up behind him that was hauled out for some work earlier that same day. He was sleeping on the boat, heard the crash, got up and watched the Spirit of Baltimore pull away without the slightest concern for the damage to the pier, boats, or persons.

Ouch! Was there a strong a side wind or current at that time?

Nope! Totally calm winds (we've been on the Chesapeake for the past week so I know that the weather has been) and there's not much of a thing as current in the Baltimore harbor.
