Dissimilar Metals?

I was being a moron asking about a aluminum support , dealing with stainless steal is a challenge, needed to be b$tch slapped on how wrong that would be. I like easy, drilling and cutting stainless steel is a bi$ch. I will post the final pictures, have some stainless angle pieces I cut today. Thanks all for your input, really appreciate it.

Walter,

Could those nuts and bolts be reversed so that the bolt head is on the bottom? Would be less of a projection below the tab for catching weeds, etc. Same for the zinc, or at least cut the bolt off.

Good Question!!!

The tab retracts to a pocket, so no, can't reverse it. The zinc has alway been the same, and no problems. If I do find the bolts to be a problem, will weld the plates together.

Walter, That looks GREAT!!! What are your before and after measurements? You look to be close to 2X.

Word of caution!!! When you splash, and take the virgin run with the new tabs try to throttle up according to your normal procedures BUT with the tabs retracted. Then start to deploy the tabs. You'll be pleasantly surprised and scared at how fast the nose comes over. The very first time I did this I came very close to stuffing the nose!

Godspeed.

Thanks Dave, and good advice!

It's about 1.75 % longer, and has the "dog ears", no dog ears before. It is also a tad wider.

I don't know how you tracked prior to the mod & cannot speak for your hull. My results were phenomenal & unexpected! She tracks as if on rails. I hope you have the same result.

Wlater, looks good although I would have preferred if you welded it. My Silverton 330SB has tabs about 12x30 and has two pistons.
Is there any concern one piston will not be strong enough? I assume it will be, just thinking out loud.

I was concerned about that with mine. No problems. IMHO....Bennett is WAY overbuilt.

Chris,
Yes that was and still is a concern.

Also,
I was wrong about the clearance with the bolts, I was able to reverse them so nothing is hanging down now. I also cut the bolt on the zinc.
