I called Fuel Tech to get gasoline for my boat and they told me they were no longer allowed to deliver fuel in the city of Dania Beach because they were fined. Anybody have a city ordinance or know of one like this?
Sec. 17-19.1. Gasoline and other petroleum products prohibited in residential areas.
(a) It shall be unlawful to sell, distribute, dispense or otherwise place gasoline or any class 1 flammable liquid into storage tanks, boats and/or motor vehicles, other than the amounts necessary for the operation of lawn mowers and other landscape maintenance equipment, in any residential area of the city. It shall also be unlawful for tank trucks to dispense gasoline and diesel fuel into boats located within areas of the city having a residential zoning classification.
(b) Any person or entity who violates the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day any violation shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
(Ord. No. 19-92, В§ 1, 11-24-92)
We are trying to get the city to amend or change this ordinance that was passed in 1992. A few of the city commissioners and the fire chief are trying to claim safety issues are the reason not to change it. I would like to get safety records from fuel carriers to disprove them.If anyone can give us some of the carriers they have used for dockside delivery it would be helpful.
