Dockside Pressure ---> Flow from Thruhull Drain

This spooky problem cropped up on my 1999 310DA last weekend. When I apply dockside water pressure, I get a large initial flow of water from the aft portside thruhull drain. After a few seconds, it slows down to a steady dribble.
There does not appear to be any significant water in the bilge.

This drain is not connected to the sinks or the head system. From the scheamtic, it appears to be connected to a pressure relief from the hot water tank.

I'm leaning toward replacing the freshwater inlet / regulator, which is SR part # 141168.

Les - do you have an equivalent or better part in stock?

Has anyone run into this problem on their boat?

I'm planning to spend some time bilge-climbing to trace the lines and look for problems - any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Mark

After a full night of dockside water....I disconnected the hose and turned on the fresh water pump on my 2003 Searay 260da. The Jabsen 44410-1000 pressure regulator (water inlet regulator) began releasing water at a high volume...in other words...it pushed water past the release valve at high pressure. I turned off the fresh water pump and reconneted the dockside water and it continued to release water. I beleive the valve is faulty.

Is this correct...or should I first inspect the hot water heater release valve? I know that the water heater was turned on overnight, with dockside power, but it still did it each time I turned on the fresh water pump without the dockside hookup.

Looks like I can get a new Jabsen 44410-1000 pressure regulator from Westmmarine for $34.99 or a distributor Depco Marine Products (800-445-1656) for $32.50 or from my Searay dealer part #141168.

Don't mind Jim. He finds it tough being God amongst mere mortals. I am not a big fan of pressure control valves due to their propensity for failure I use them, but don't like them. I saw (and can't find) where a fellow built his own out of parts from home depot. Gauge and everything. Kind of slick. I found that by barely turn the water spigot has minimized my issues.

Same thing we do though I am always concerned some butt will walk buy and open it up again.
