Does anyone SCUBA Dive from their boat.

Mike....I thought seriously about diving from my own boat, but after much consideration, I now only scuba dive from my own boat when I'm doing maintenance. The reality is, it's just not worth the effort to dive from your own boat. I'm diving Saturday from a dive boat. It'll cost me $95. The captain will take me to the wreck....two wrecks actually....He'll find the wrecks and set the sand anchor.....the mate will dive down and set the wreck hook.....Another mate will help, if you need, getting my gear on.....the mate will untie the wreck hook and weigh the sand anchor.....while we head to the second wreck, during the SIT, the crew will put out a lunch and drinks....we'll do the same routine at the second wreck, and then the captain will take us back to the dock, while I either take a nap or BS with the other divers.....and then the captain and crew will wash down the boat.....I would spend more than $95 just putting drinks and food on my boat......and....I'd have to be concernend about all the other stuff instead of just enjoying the dive.

All this and I didn't even get into having all the neccessary safety equipment and training that you would need to have on board.....

It doesn't make sense to dive off your own boat, but it sure is fun. I have done it several times. Limited results each time, but it is getting wet. I would not take a trip on the boat just to dive, but I do make diving part of some of my trips. I keep my gear onboard in case of emergency, or just in case I want to go under for a bit.

BTW Michael, I am back in your neck of the woods for the weekend. I am up at Lincoln Harbor. Taking some friends out for a evening cruise tomorrow and probably heading to to Sandy Hook for Sat. Then, Sat evening, Mom and Step Dad are coming, we are takign them out for an evening cruise and either down the shore or up to my hiding spot near GWB for Sunday.
