All,

Is there a drain hole that goes from the galley area to the bilge?

Perhaps under the stairs somewhere?

I'm getting water on the floor and stair area that won't drain out.

I think I found the water coming in from a mount on the rail on the deck, when it rains, and flowing down along the hull behind the stove area onto the floor, which I'll fix.

But surprised that I can't find a drain somewhere.

Any ideas?

The galley and head sinks drain overboard. Is there not a sump under the stairs maybe that collects the shower drain and AC condensation? Not as familiar with a 1996, but on the newer ones if you removed the trashcan from under the companionway stairs there was a sump underneath.

Bill,
You are correct, but this water is getting in below the floor and below the sump (which is sealed and sumps out the shower) so water under and around the sump container stays there, and flows back onto the carpet in the galley, and that's what I can't get rid of. If there were a drain hole to the bilge, it would be perfect.

It's either a hose leaking, ie from the shower drain or ac condensation or you have a leak from outside like you mentioned...I'm betting a leak. Look at the wiper motors, windshield and deck fills also, The head and galley sink would drain overboard.

Larry,
I have a 1999 270. There is no drain in that corner and if water gets down to the lower level of the carpet, it will stay there and eventually rot out the carpet.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. It took me a while to figure out that my port side windows needed to be resealed. Once that was done, no more water on my carpet.

You may want to try to go down below when it is raining and see if there is any sort of leakage around the windows, or from anywhere else. Another thing I would consider is the main hatch area, make sure no water can get in from there. Finally, another suspect would be the bottom edge of the windshield. That may also need to be resealed.
