Has anyone spent the night at East Brother Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast? Do you know if you can take your own boat or do you have to use the ferry from Richmond? How was your stay? Im thinking about surprising my wife for Valentines next year, taking her to East Brother Lighthouse BB for the night and for dinner. The next day going to Ayala Cove for a hike...Sams for a late lunch and then back to Martinez Marina. So a two day, one night trip..

Wayne,

My wife and I spent the night there and it was marvelous. It was our anniversary and I didn't tell her where we going. I took her to lunch in SF, then drove over to the Richmond Marina and she was very worried because at that time the marina was in rough shape. I told her to pack light and don't wear a dress (when you arrive on the island you have to climb up ten or fifteen stairs right over the boat) This last part about the dress really freaked her out. Not the climb but why she couldn't wear a dress. There are four rooms there, three in the lighthouse and one in the equipment room and thats where we stayed. We had the room and the bathroom too ourselves and it was quite elegant in a bed and breakfast sort of way. Wine before dinner, an elegant six or seven course dinner, wine outside with the city in view at night and then a great breakfast the next morning and a boat ride back to tbe marina. All in all she was very surprised (and very pleased I might add) and it was worth every penny. I don't think you can take your own boat as the dock is very small in in a very high current area. I beleive they raise the taxi boat out of the water after you arrive. I hope you go and let us know how it went. For all you guys out there that want to really please your lady, this is it. And do it as a total surprise like I did and don't let them have any idea where you are going even up to the point of getting on the water taxi out to the island. Have fun.

Neat idea! I'm glad to know there are a few romantics out there. What lucky wives you have!

Thanks Flutterby.....I'll have to show this to my wife who thinks I am only interested in chasing salmon all over Monterey Bay (well not last year), cleaning my boat and fish, smoking good cigars and drinking whiskey. Maybe there is some hope for me after all. Maybe I should do a little more of the East Brother Light Station and a little less fishing.

Sounds great. So far all the reviews Ive read have been pretty good. What exactly did they serve for dinner. I was really looking for a place where I could take her by boat. Im also considering going to the Inn Above Tide..its a water front hotel in Sausalito. They dont have guest docks but I understand the Sausalito Yacht Harbor is right next door...walking distance..Im going to call them in the morning and see if they have guest docks..if so I will jsut take her to Sausalito...spend the night at the Inn Above tides...do some sight seeing at Angel Island the following day and then head home.
