On the electrical panel of my 2006 3880, there is one remote generator toggle switch that does not lock in at the bottom left, and then 2 blanks one which says start and the other says stop. When toggle is released, the generator stops. It runs fine directly from Kohler 7.3 generator, but not from panel. I am told it is a Regal question and not a Kohler one

The gen panel on my 2006 is just the opposite. I have a blank for Off/On and a toggle each for Start and Stop. Each toggle does what it's supposed to do and we've had no problems with it.

Didn't we already ask this question and answer it?
I have the single toggle and it works fine.
I suggest you open the panel, 2 screws and wire in a new switch to test the switch.
Switch is similiar to a key, you turn it, it starts, you release, it still runs.
I still think its a faulty switch since the genny runs fine.
Reason I say this is becuase if I hit my switch up, the genny starts and runs.
If I hit it up a second time, it stops.
So I think your switch is sending a signal to start and then when you release it it is sending another signal to stop, which is wrong. On the release, there should be no signal. E
Either its wired wrong, a wire is touching another wire, or switch is faulty.
If you open it up, I can open mine and we can compare wires.

I have opened it up a couple of times and was wondering if a wire from the switch leads to a relay on the upper right of that wiring board.
I noticed a free end on the relay, and at the base of that cabinet was a free wire with 2 clips

I will be wiring up my Sat Tv Friday and will take some notes of how the genny switch is wired.
Maybe take a pic or two as well.

Are you holding down the switch for several seconds after the generator starts? On my boat I have the 3 switch layout and unless you hold the one switch for several seconds AFTER the generator starts up, it will shutdown.

The extra time is to override the safety system that shutdowns the generator due to low oil pressure, over temp, etc...

I hold the switch down for several seconds, but I only have 1 switch. The other 2 spots on the panel are blanks. This boat even though a 2006 was never in the water till 2 weeks ago.

Try holding it down for an extra 2 seconds or so after the engine starts. Then again that wire lying loose is probably to blame.

I don't really know. My system doesn't use a relay. Dave's pictures may tell the story.

I replaced the switch with a simple on off switch for $5. It works fine now. Thank you
