My boat has one shore power inlet, and I currently run my air conditioning with no problem on shore power. But when I run my Honda EU2000 generator, there seems to be no power there. I can't even turn on the fan mode.
Someone recommended testing the air conditioning by wiring it directly to the generator to see if the generator would turn it over. I think this is a great idea, and I would like to try it. Assuming my test is successful and the generator can indeed turn over the air system, I would like to wire it in with a second shore power inlet.
My question is, if I install another power inlet, what are the odds that I would get the same result as I get right now? Right now when I turn the breaker on (when running the generator) the reverse polarity light comes on and I can't even power the fan. The fan has a minimal draw, and of course the compressor will not kick over either.
Is it possible the breaker is the cause of this problem?
