Engine Rotation

This may sound like a dumb question but here goes. I bought a 1990 310 Sundancer with 5.7L inboards 2 years ago and this winter I decided to replace the raw water pump impellers.After I removed the pumps I noticed that on the housings both say LH rotation. Now I am a little confused. I know that I have counter rotating props. Is this done with the transmissions?

Yep. Both engines turn the same direction. The prop direction is reversed between the two at the transmission. You can verify this very simply sitting at the dock without the engines running. Put both transmission in forward and then look at the position of the shift link on the transmission where the shift cable is attached. Then put both shifters in reverse and look again. See the difference between the two?
