I just installed new circulator pump, manifolds and riser/elbows on my mercruiser 5.0 liter efi. I started the engine and noticed that one side was warmer then the other. The port side was constant 60-65 degrees at the top of the riser but the starboard side was constant and around 115 degrees, not bad, but too warm at idle. I also noticed that the bottom of the manifold was cool, 60-65 degrees, but the temp climbed as I ran the non-contact thermometer up the manifold and riser. I suspected a blockage so I stopped the engine when the block temp got to about 155. When I pulled it all apart I noticed some water sitting in the bottom of the manifold right at the center two exhaust ports. So I guess I had a leak between the riser and manifold but the gaskets look good. So I put it all back together and will try it again over the weekend. I assume the temp had something to do with the leak but I'm wondering what else would cause one side to run warmer then the other?
Thanks
