Ok, My Budget engine Thread is all due to a Manifold failure while running.
I have bought new manifolds, without much knowledge of the product - shame on me. They are HGE Branded. One marine mechanic says he has been using them for replacements for 3 years with no failures.
I asked if they were Hot Dipped. The marine supplier said - NO, that is the worst thing you could do. Galvonic(sp) action would be accelerated.
(1) Does that make sense? It does sound correct, when you concider how zincs work.
(2) What other pre-assembly steps could help extend Manifold life?
Painting internally? Powdercoating, if even possible?
Lets face it, I don't have money to burn or I wouldn't have put an exhaust system together for $270.00 shipped.
